Gen Z Protests Shake the Nation

Nepal’s youth are rising up after the government banned 26 social media apps—including Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp. The ban sparked massive protests across Kathmandu, led mostly by Gen Z.

What started as peaceful demonstrations turned tragic when clashes with police left at least 19 people dead and many injured.

The government has now lifted the ban and promised compensation to victims’ families. But young people say the fight isn’t over—they’re demanding real change: less corruption, more freedom, and a voice in the future.

Social media is back, but the movement continues.
